Guidelines For Writing A Diner Review

  1. You need not fill out all the fields in the review submission form. If you are not sure of the manufacturer of the diner, for example, leave that line blank. You must, however, supply the name of the diner, the city in which it located, and the state, or your submission will not be processed.
  2. If you prefer not to rate the diner, you are not required to do so. Owners and employees may write reviews of their own diners, but are asked to only supply objective information, and not enter ratings.
  3. When rating food quality, keep in mind that most diners serve simple fare. A diner with a food quality rating of "excellent" would not necessarly offer extremely sophisticated cusine, but you would expect everything to be skillfully prepared, fresh, and homemade.
  4. Quality of service is a combination of promptness and friendliness of the staff.
  5. The historical value of a diner is for many the most compelling reason to make a special trip to eat there. Many classic diners have been severely marred by alterations. With this in mind, you may rate the current condition of the diner. A diner which is "severely altered" may have been gutted, or covered up with bricks, stone face, or wood, to such an extent that it lost its "diner soul."
